Am I Too Heavy To Use A Turbo Trainer?
We get hundreds of questions about turbo trainers each year, and one that we are frequently asked is about the weight limits of the equipment, from riders who want to turbo their way to losing weight.
When we received a message asking “Am I too heavy to use a turbo trainer?”, we were surprised by the lack of easily accessible information and clarity from brands and manufacturers about the weight limits of their products. So we’ve done the hard work and collated some of the most popular turbo brands and their weight limits.
Most brands don’t give a limit for their specific models; there tends to be a blanketed weight limit for all of their ranges. Wahoo’s website says that their limit “is based largely on the unique forces trainers place on the bike frame that aren't normally experienced while riding on the road.”

It is worth remembering that the weight limit is for the rider AND the bike. Bike weights can vary significantly - carbon bike frames are lighter than aluminum, and road bikes tend to be lighter than hybrids and mountain bikes.
